On World Pharmacists Day, AS Watson, the parent company of Watsons Philippines, proudly celebrates the dedication of its pharmacists and health professionals worldwide. Their expertise and commitment are vital in helping customers live healthier, more confident lives.

“Today, we honor over 3,000 pharmacists and nearly 10,000 health professionals across AS Watson’s global network. Their role extends beyond in-store care, with many providing online consultations to ensure customers receive trusted health advice anytime, anywhere. Their knowledge and commitment make them indispensable in guiding our customers on their wellness journeys,” shared Peter Macnab, International Commercial Director of AS Watson.
In line with this global celebration, Watsons Philippines continues to empower its pharmacists with expanded health services, reinforcing its mission to build a healthier future for Filipinos.
Meeting the Rising Demand for Health & Wellness
AS Watson’s health and wellness business is experiencing rapid growth, driven by changing customer needs and a stronger focus on preventive care. In the past year alone, overall health and beauty sales grew by over 10%. The vitamins and dietary supplements category also rose more than 10%, while diet and fitness products surged by over 20%.
Weight management is one of the fastest-growing segments, with sales increasing by 130%. As obesity rates rise worldwide, customers are turning to pharmacists for safe and reliable advice on weight management. AS Watson’s pharmacists provide medicines, supplements, and personalized guidance on nutrition, lifestyle, and holistic wellness.
This growth is also powered by AS Watson’s O+O (Offline plus Online) retail model. Online health product sales jumped 30% year-on-year, proving that customers value the convenience of accessing trusted health essentials both in-store and online.
Supporting Customers Across Generations
AS Watson is seeing growth across both younger and older generations. Younger customers are becoming more health-conscious, with a 30% year-on-year increase in those purchasing health products. Meanwhile, the silver generation now represents over 30% of its health shoppers, spending 1.4 times more than the average customer.
“We’re proud to serve such a diverse customer base,” said Peter. “Both younger and older generations are powerful drivers in health and wellness, and we remain committed to supporting them with expert advice, relevant products, and a seamless O+O experience.”
Watsons Philippines: Strengthening Care Through Partnerships
In the Philippines, Watsons is expanding its role as a trusted health and wellness destination through collaborations with Diabetes Philippines, Inc. (DPI) and global healthcare leader Novo Nordisk.
- With DPI – Watsons pharmacists will undergo training to better guide customers in managing diabetes and raising awareness of its complications.
- With Novo Nordisk – Watsons will provide free obesity screenings in select stores, offering customers professional health assessments and expert advice.
These initiatives align with Watsons’ promise to help Filipinos “Look Good, Do Good, Feel Great”—empowering both pharmacists and customers to take proactive steps toward healthier lives.
