It was more than a year after I had may hair rebonded. Since May, I was tying my hair because if I don’t, my hair will look like Simba from the Lion King. I am tired of my boring look so yesterday, I decided to go for a Japanese Straight instead of another hair rebond.
Here are some information from Tomi No Haru’s site:
Japanese Straight is a unique Hair Straightening System from Japan which permanently straightens ALL HAIR TYPES and CONDITIONS. The Japanese Hair Straightening technology works best even for the most difficult hair types & and conditions.
Why is Japanese Straight better than Rebonding?
Japanese straight is better than rebonding because it is the only permanent straightening procedure that allows styling versatility even after the treatment. The hair can still be braided, curled temporarily without chemicals, or up-styled without leaving any permanent marks. This is the only treatment that allows permanent hair coloring on a SAME DAY procedure, which means you can cover grey hair, lift your hair color from black to light brown permanently, without the damage. Rebonding only allows cellophane or semi-permanent washable hair coloring as their same day hair coloring procedure. With Japanese Straight, you get 8 complete treatments in one procedure while with rebonding, you may only get 3 treatments. These 8 treatments ensure the safety of the procedure to any type & condition of any hair, before and after the straightening process.
What is the difference between Japanese straight and an ordinary chemical relaxer / straightener?
Japanese straight is a permanent hair straightening system that leaves hair looking and feeling soft, silky, shiny, and healthier looking hair while an ordinary chemical relaxing /straightening is a temporary, corrosive, and unsafe way of straightening one’s hair. With Japanese straight, hair is straightened safely & permanently at the innermost structures. An ordinary relaxer / straightener may damage your scalp and leave the hair dry and brittle, and the curls come back after a short period of time.
I’ve known this Japanese Straight through a deal site. I was searching originally for a hair rebond deal when I saw it, the description made me interested so I clicked the BUY button. I went to their Muntinlupa Branch to claim my voucher. I was surprised that there were no women attendees at the salon, the attendees are men, yes I think real men.
The 8 hours procedure went like this:
- They’ve shampooed my hair first
- then blow dried it
- They’ve put a color blue gelatin like chemical on my hair
- After an hour, they put a white chemical
- they left it on for another hour and then put another white cream
- after an hour, they washed my hair
- then they blow dried it again
- and then they used a hair straightening iron on my hair (this lasted for 2 hours I think)
- and then they washed my hair and put a glossifier or hair conditioner I think
- then they blow dried my hair again
- after that they used hair straightening iron again to fix and finish my hair
What I liked about this Japanese Straight is that I felt that the chemical they have used is safer than the one used in hair rebonding. They did not cover my ears when they have put the chemical and they did not kept on asking me if I feel any pain or itchiness on my scalp. Also they told me that my hair is under warranty for 10 days. I haven’t received any warranty from the other salon that I went to before so this is a plus factor for Tomi No Haru.
Being inside a salon for 8 hours was tiring. I kept on standing and transferring from one chair to another. I was glad that they have a free Wi-Fi and TV that entertained me and the other customers who kept on Facebooking hahaha.
They advised me to wash my hair after 3 days. I will update you on what it will look like after that time.
UPDATE as of November 6, 2013: I have washed my hair already and I was surprised that when I wet it, it was not that hard like when I had my hair rebond before. I let my hair dry before I went out of the house, and I like that it is smooth, and easy to hand comb especially if it’s windy. I love it, and I hope that my straight hair will last at least 6 months or more.
