The Philippines is currently being affected by the Typhoon Maring. There are lots of flooded area already, and as of this writing the rain is continuously pouring. Cavite is one of the areas that was declared to be in a state of calamity. For those who doesn’t know, we are now living in Cavite, but I thank God that our area is not affected by flood.

If you are located in one of the declared Calamity areas, you have a choice to apply for a Calamity Loan at SSS and Pag-ibig. This will help you get back on your feet after this crisis.
Here are some guidelines on Calamity Loan application that I found from searching.
For SSS, here are the required documents
Application for Direct House Repair and/or Improvement Loan (2 copies) and SS SCards of the principal applicant and his/her spouse, if applicable. In the absence of the SS Card, any two (2) valid IDs with signature, at least one (1) with photo (original and photocopy for authentication)
- Certification issued by the barangay/local government unit/NDRRMC/DSWD attesting that the house subject of the direct housing repair
and/or improvement loan was destroyed/damaged by calamity (original copy)
For employed borrower, latest Income Tax Return (original and photocopy for authentication) and Certification of Employment and Compensation duly signed by the employer’s SSS authorized signatory (original copy) together with two (2) latest monthly payslips. For Self-employed or Professional, Income Tax Returns and Financial Statements for the last three (3) years (original and one photocopy). For overseas workers, the Contract of Employment and Certification of Employment and Compensation duly authenticated by the Philippine Consulate or SSS Foreign Representative.
Certified true copy of the Original/Transfer/Condominium Certificate of Title (OCT/TCT/CCT) issued by the Registry of Deeds together with owner’s duplicate copy.
Latest Tax Declaration of Real Property (land and building) with the Official Receipt of Realty Tax Payment (original and one (1) photocopy)
Lot/Location Plan prepared, signed & sealed by a licensed geodetic engineer. The plan should be prepared in a standard Bureau of Lands form (blueprint or whiteprint copy in 15” x 20” size).
For Home Development Mutual Fund (PAG-IBIG), Calamity loan is open to all members who have at least 24 months of contribution. This is from www.ofwguide.com
Calamity Loan Requirements:
- A member must have contributed at least 24 months to be eligible for the calamity loan.
- In case of having a previous loan, he/she must be active on paying it.
- The member must be a resident of a calamity affected area.
To apply, members should submit the following:
- Certificate of net pay
- Two valid identification cards
- Barangay certificate signed by barangay captain to prove that the member resides in an area affected by a calamity.
Member can loan a maximum 80% of the member’s Total Accumulated Value or TAV (personal contributions, employer’s contribution, and dividend) and is payable in 24 months.
Filipinos abroad may send their representative in the nearest PAGIBIG branch in their area on their behalf. Remember that a Calamity Loan is only accepted up to 90 days from the day the State of Calamity was declared.
